On 12-Aug-2019, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) organized its Annual General Meeting (AGM), The Reliance team demonstrated its fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) services and other future plans. As declared during today’s AGM, Jio Fiber services will start on 5 September 2019. The base package for Jio Fiber is priced at ₹700 and offers 100Mbps speed.
The Jio Fiber service was announced last year, on 12 August 2018, but the Reliance didn’t disclosed details like data plans and real-time data speeds. Jio started offering of the fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) service to early adopters with the GigaFiber Preview Offer. Bud during this preview offer, the service has a capped top speed of 100Mbps instead of 1 Gbps speeds promised during its unveiling last year.
Jio Fiber data plans
As declared during the AGM today, Jio Fiber’s cheapest data plan is priced at ₹700/month with speeds capped at 100Mbps. This might be the best suitable for the home users and shop-keepers and small businesses.
The costliest data plan package is priced around ₹10,000 per month with access to broadband, Jio Home TV and Jio’s IoT. This will be the premium service for the Jio Customers.
Along with Fiber internet, Jio is also offering landline services with all of its Fiber packages. Voice calling to any Indian operator would be free. The customer has to just procure a landline phone or need to purchase from Jio with a nominal cost. As per Mr. Mukesh Ambani today “ISD calling tariffs would be 1/5th to 1/10th of industry rates. Jio is offering unlimited US/Canada pack at ₹500 per month”.
To promote Jio Finer, Mr. Ambani also launched Jio Fiber Welcome Offer. He named this welcome offer as ‘Jio Forever Plan’. Jio Forever Plans that will give users an HD or 4k LED television and 4k set-top box for free. Mr. Ambani also invited all customers to make the most of their Welcome Offer, and sign up for Jio Fiber as soon as it is available in their neighborhood.”. Complete tariff information would be available on 5 September and made available to the customers on or before that.
According to the Reliance in AGM today, Jio Fiber’s Preview service generated interest from 15 million people in approximately 1,600 towns. Mr. Ambani said the services plans to reach more than 20 million residences in 15 mill businesses in 1,600 towns. 5 lakh homes are on trial plans and each of these are using more than 100GB of data per month.
Jio is also eyeing enterprise customers including small and medium businesses (SMBs) and large businesses with the service.
